History of Formation and Development

Kyiv National Economic University was established in 1906 initially as Higher Economics Courses. It underwent several transformations, becoming the Kyiv Commercial Institute in 1908, and later the Kyiv Institute of National Economy in 1920. The institution was renamed multiple times, including as the Kyiv Financial and Economic Institute in 1934, and finally received its current name in 2005 in honor of Vadym Hetman, a significant figure in Ukrainian banking and economics.

The university is the largest economic educational establishment in Ukraine, serving approximately 15,000 students. Its academic infrastructure spans an area of 118,765 m2, which includes classrooms, seminar rooms, computer labs, and a total classroom area of 14,332.7 m2. Additionally, the university features a gym area of 6,709 m2, a stadium, and six dormitories. The mission of the university emphasizes contributing to social development through research and the education of competitive professionals.
